Halloween ROCKS!

So here's how we spent Halloween 2011.....

The costumes:

World's Cutest Witch
Far-Out and Out-of-This-World Parents
The Dark Side of the Force

Lots of pre-Halloween fun with trick-or-treating at various public places, initiating Big Chief in the American grown-up Halloween tradition of haunted housing (at traditional places as well as haunted forests and haunted barns), pumpkin patches, and marshmallow roasts.
First time allowed loose with a knife....maybe not a great idea
He was happy, though
Great results! (except the Apple-lantern has some saggage issues)
Having The Force used against me (I lost, obviously)
Aren't my boys handsome?!
Pumpkin patch!
Kitty Kat was in her element with the animals

She had to become one with the goats...and their droppings

Pony rides!
Mr T wasn't having ANY of getting on a pony

He preferred to flip instead

And crawl out of the disturbing backside of an inflatable caterpillar (WTF????)

Trick-or-treating at the zoo
Contemplating which side of The Force to be on today?
Yippee, more animals!
That's right, kiss the yummy chickens.
We girls aren't too bad looking ourselves
Benefits of living in the country

Bonfires and beer on demand

(but the pictures aren't quite so impressive with the flash)

Marshmallows! (too impatient to make s'mores)

At least he was generous about his culinary efforts

Fireman T at the close of the festivities
Trick-or-treating Midwest redneck style...in the back of a pickup
Baby Girl had no hesitation about digging in
We arrived back in Holland on a Friday morning (with the usual laundry, unpacking, exhaustion, jet lag, and general screwed-up-ness of international travel), spent all Saturday afternoon/evening at a friend's pumpkin carving party, then hosted our own Halloween party Sunday afternoon. Ugh. I think we've just about now recovered.
Our traditional 'Puking Pumpkin' centrepiece

My homage to True Blood (it's Sookie and.....Bill? Eric? Take your pick!)

The hit of the evening, earwax-crusted Q-Tips (i.e. butterscotch coated marshmallows)
This little darling, though, dismissed all the regular kid food and spent her time gnawing on chicken wings...
...and wearing her brother's mask
 Halloween ROCKS!

Granny Eagle Eye: I can now understand the whole US Haloween 'thing' better. It's so much more family oriented than the half-hearted 'Trick or Treat' that we seem to have imported. Love the outfits! Thought the scariest thing was how much you look like your Mother!!
